Two tiny GPS devices now bear the stamp of, well, a Bear. British survival star Bear Grylls has leant his brand and endorsement to a pair of Bushnell GPS trackers.
The Bear Grylls edition BackTrack and BackTrack D-TOUR have a digital compass and basic GPS functions.
Hit a button and the devices track “simple distance and direction to any saved waypoint” to help you navigate or get back out of the woods.
After a trek, you plug in the device to download trip data. A GPS route can be overlaid on a topo map on a computer screen.
The $80 BackTrack has the noted basic functions while the $120 BackTrack D-TOUR adds altitude, temp, latitude/longitude readings, and other tools.
The BackTrack units join three other products in Bushnell’s Bear Grylls line, including a monocular and a portable solar-panel roll.
