13-year-old Chloe Kim from La Palma, Calif., would have filled the second spot on the U.S. Women’s Snowboard Half-pipe Team… except she is too young to compete in the Olympic Games, according to NBC Sports.

Kim took third-place overall in the Women’s Snowboard Half-pipe event at the 2013 Dew Tour, a qualifier held last weekend (December 12-15) at Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado.

She finished just one point behind America’s most successful half-pipe snowboarder, Kelly Clark. You can watch one of Kim’s super clean, high-flying runs in the video below.

Seeing Kim on the podium at the Dew Tour with two fully-grown women was quite spectacular. She is less than half Clark’s age.

We’ll be watching Kim over the coming years as she is no doubt a contender for a spot on the U.S. Team at the 2018 Winter Olympics to be held in South Korea.
