'Epic Slumber' - A photo contest with Therm-a-Rest

Update: Thanks to all who submitted captions. There were loads of great responses, but in the end this one by reader “LoveGravity” stood out and made us snort over its stupefying mix of metaphor, pun, and climbing-world jargon: “Serta-fied lead on pitch two of Mt. Ever-Rest’s ‘Sleep-Number 5.14’ route.” Also worthy, reader “Gene” contributed “So comfortable you’ll sleep like a baby… eagle.”

Yep, they are both so bad that they’re good! We laughed, anyway.

Another reader, Dax, sent in “The things I will do for a little peace and quiet,” which we thought was a funny fit. Finally, “Joshua” submitted something good with his “For rent: Great mountain bird’s eye view, 1 bed, and a 5,000 foot drop.”

So, there you have it. . . thanks to all who sent in captions. Sleep tight!

Outdoors people sleep in the craziest of places. GearJunkie and Therm-a-Rest have partnered for a contest on “epic” places to sleep (or rest/hang out). Two ways to enter below. . .

HOW TO ENTER (two ways to enter)

1) Caption this “epic slumber” image above. Add your humorous, witty, or weird caption text in the comments area below this article.

2) Send in a picture and a one-sentence description of a place you’ve pitched a tent, a field where you’ve unrolled a sleeping bag, or the most dramatic place you’ve stopped to rest outside. Submit the image(s) here today or tomorrow.

The Prize: We’ll award the best two captions and image with Therm-A-Rest NeoAir XLite sleeping pads, a $150 value.
