Female bike mechanics who want to improve their skills: Listen up!

There are now 10 scholarships open for women to attend the United Bicycle Institute. The scholarship was created for women who are aspiring or experienced bike mechanics wishing to increase their technical knowledge and pursue a career in the industry.

The scholarship is supported by SRAM, Liv, United Bicycle Institute, Quality Bicycle Products, Pedro’s, and Park Tool.

Applicants must be currently employed at a bike shop, at least 18 years old, a U.S. resident, and must be available to attend the February, March or April sessions at the Ashland or Portland, Oregon, campuses.

What do you get? Lodging is included at the Ashland campus, and the scholarship covers attendance to the Professional Shop Repair and Operations Workshop, which is a $1,950 value. Travel to and from the campuses is not covered.

Interested parties can apply online from October 20th to November 15th, 2014.
