Gaia GPS iPhone app
October 26, 2009, 9:27 am / Categories: Technology
Nobody ever said you can’t geek-out while exploring Mother Nature. While the startup company is far from alone in the “use-your-iPhone-as-a-GPS” category, TrailBehind Inc. lets you track your route, create waypoints, view maps and even get driving directions via your iPhone.
Created with hikers in mind, the app shows current speed, altitude, trip distance and compass bearing. And the company’s newest release, expected to be Apple-approved by the end of the month, will have a pause and resume feature that, among other facets, lets you stop and start a current track.
The Gaia GPS iPhone app’s first version is currently available at the App Store for $2.99. www.gaiagps.com
