Cross-country mountain biking races don’t often come with big money potential. But this year at the GoPro Mountain Games competitors in the X-Country Mountain Bike Race will compete for a $15,000 pot.

This is a large percentage of the overall $100,000 in prize money to be awarded next month at the Games.

The money — as well as a good course and a stout field of competition — will result in an impressive starting roster, including Olympians, National Champs, and upcoming locals from Colorado.

The races start on Saturday, June 8. We’ll be there live to cover the event.

We’ll be watching 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Georgia Gould, Teal Stetson-Lee, and Heather Irmiger on the women’s side. For men, Todd Wells, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski, Ben Sonntag, and Colin Cares are among the racers to watch.

See you at the start line!
