Due to the partnership, the Mountain Project’s previously paid mobile application is now free.

“Mountain Project is an indispensable tool for the modern climber, and Black Diamond’s partnership allows us to give our core users a valuable resource wherever they are climbing,” said Niclas Bornling, vice president of marketing.

Mountain Project has route beta for more than 112,000 climbing routes at 19,000 climbing areas worldwide. The mobile application allows users to download route information (location, description, images and rating) on their devices and access it anytime, even without a cell signal.

Mountain Project is popular, with more than 300,000 unique users per month. It reaches nearly 2,500,000 climbers per year.
