Hikers Survive Suspension Bridge Failure

Yikes, this is spooky. If you’ve crossed suspension bridges while hiking, you’ve probably had a moment of trepidation. Well, apparently for good reason!

Things seem to be going fine for this group of hikers in New Zealand. Everything changes shortly after 30 seconds into this video.

The hikers were nearing the end of their trek on the Great Lake Walk at the Lake Waikaremoana in New Zealand. The suspension bridge, which sits a little over 26 feet above the water, collapsed when one of the cables failed.

As reported by poster Adrien Whistle, “one of the main bridge cables released. 8 meter fall, no serious injuries.”

Thank goodness.
