Lake Cycling’s latest road-biking shoe, the to-be-released CX236, incorporates a Boa PowerZone closure to allow quick adjustments with a tiny snaking cable instead of Velcro or buckle clamps.

While it doesn’t come out until this winter, the company’s only new road biking shoe for 2010 has a leather and mesh upper designed to breathe well. It has a vented carbon fiber sole that has holes in the bottom to breath. The carbon decreases weight (which has yet to be released) while providing ample rigidity.

The Boa dial is at the rear of the shoe to eliminate bulk up front. The shoe will be available in black and white and can accommodate three-hole or Speedplay pedal cleats.

Unlike many other road biking shoes, the CX236 comes in variable widths.

The CX236 shoes will be available for $210 in February or March. www.lakecycling.com
