One Pole To Rule Them — Made for use across several activities, from trekking to backcountry skiing, our editors were impressed with the Leki Micro TourStick Vario trekking pole.

It weighs just 8.9 ounces a pole. The pole adjusts by length and its baskets can be switched out as per activity. The three-part pole breaks down small to fit in a pack pocket at just 15 inches long.

Its upper shafts are made of carbon. But the bottom pole section is aluminum. This adds strength and durability when you’re trekking in talus or employing the poles on steep backcountry runs where a ski edge might make contact with the pole. $199.95.
