It took 162 hours and 31 minutes. But after more than a week of racing Team GearJunkie/YogaSlackers has managed a third-place finish in the 2012 Patagonian Expedition Race, a multisport competition in southern Chile that’s been dubbed the toughest race on the planet.
We have few details so far but know GearJunkie/YogaSlackers was crowned third-place last night. Team Adidas TERREX-Prunesco won the race again this year with a time of 147 hours 39 minutes. Japan’s Team EastWind pulled second place at 159 hours 25 minutes.
This year saw the highest finishing rate of any recent Patagonian Expedition Race, the 400+ mile bike, trek, kayak course being completed by 10 teams (out of 20 that started the course on Feb. 14). Congrats to all the teams who pushed limits to complete the course! We’ll have more details on the race as GearJunkie/YogaSlackers gets back to civilization this weekend.
