May 17, 2011, 8:34 am / Categories: Adventure Racing, Adventure
It’s back! The Primal Quest Adventure Race is officially on for 2012, as per a brief news report on the race’s website this week. Reads the release, For the past few weeks, there have been a number of rumors circulating around the Internet regarding the possible return of Primal Quest in 2012. We can confirm that those rumors are true and that wheels have been set in motion to bring this legendary event back from its hiatus.
This is big news for the adventure racing community, as Primal Quest is one of the world’s most visible and widely-covered races. It goes by the tagline of “the World’s Most Challenging Human Endurance Competition,” and since its inception in 2002 the race has received major media coverage, including week-long TV series on major network channels.
I cut my AR teeth on the Primal Quest back in 2006, racing as Team Bulleit (a bourbon company!) for more than a week through the deserts of Utah. Here is my story on the event, “Primal Quest Adventure Race.” For the 2012 race, details remain sparse. Continues the report, While we can’t share specific details at this time, we can tell you that the Primal Quest team is already in negotiations to hold the race somewhere in the western United States.
