Salomon Space Boot
July 3, 2007, 7:07 am / Categories: Footwear, Winter Gear
NASA dug it. It was used in space suits. Now Salomon has incorporated a nanotech-based fabric called Spaceloft into its new wintertime trompers, the Aspen Boots.
According to Salomon press material, Spaceloft, which is made by Aspen Aerogels, permits thinner boot uppers at the same level of thermal protection as a thicker pair. Kind of like a pair of Sorels, only svelte and lighter like oversize trail-running shoes.
Salomon is calling its Aspen Boot the “first ever nanotechnology application to outdoor footwear.”
They’ll go for $170.
In stores by September.
