- About: Team GearJunkie/YogaSlackers
GearJunkie.com, a top name in outdoors and adventure journalism, has formed an official competitive adventure-racing and multisport team for 2011. Stephen Regenold, the editor and founder of Gear Junkie, has partnered with the YogaSlackers group (www.yogaslackers.com) to form "Team GearJunkie/YogaSlackers."
For 2011, Team GearJunkie/YogaSlackers kicked off the year with a strong second-place finish in the arduous, week-long Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race in southern Chile. The primary team includes Regenold, veteran racer and YogaSlackers founder Jason Magness, 23-year-old Daniel "Hill Boy" Staudigel, and Chelsey Gribbon, a rising star in the world of AR.
Team GearJunkie/YogaSlackers has a goal to be a top team in the United States and beyond in 2011. Additionally, for coverage on GearJunkie.com, the team will function as an "ultimate test lab" to review some of the world's best outdoors gear. "We're going to serve as lab rats to put gear through the most extreme conditions imaginable," said Gear Junkie's Stephen Regenold.
The team has three additional expedition-length races on its 2011 calendar (Raid the North Extreme, Expedition Idaho, and The Gold Rush Mother Lode). The U.S. Adventure Racing National Championships is also on the team's schedule. "Stephen ['Gear Junkie'] and I first met while sleep deprived in the middle of the fifth night of Primal Quest Utah, in 2006," said Jason Magness of the YogaSlackers. "We were leading our teams through the mountains, a little off our rockers, and we talked of gear, yogic super powers, and hobbits... I guess what I am saying is that this partnership has been a long time coming!"
Watch for race updates, videos, and gear coverage from the Team this summer on GearJunkie.com.
