OMG, Did You See All the Swag?!

Last year at our annual “Treasure Hunt: Roanoke” event we gave away a $7,000 Sylvan Sport trailer and a Vasa rowing machine. This year, the top winners got bikes and a boat. Indeed, we believe our event, which combines facets of an outdoors scavenger hunt with an adventure race, is one of, if not the, biggest outdoor gear giveaway each year on the planet. We have gracious sponsors for the event (click here for the whole list), and everyone who raced this year left mighty happy.
The top 15 or so racers this past weekend cleaned house, including nabbing GPS units from Magellan and DeLorme, Eton music players, a Wenger Swiss Army watch, expensive shell jackets, and the aforementioned bikes (Specialized, Raleigh) and boat (Necky kayak). But even if you finished, say, in 40th place you likely would still walk away with a high-end jacket, trail shoes, a backpack, or a gift card for apparel.
Check out the smiles on the faces below. This is the afterglow at the finish line, the racers spiked on endorphins from a three-hour bike/trek course and then thrust through an immense gear tent to cherry pick among hundreds of prizes. For a gear junkie like me, the looks on these faces are pretty much priceless! Thanks to all who participated and, again, the amazing sponsors this year. Hope to see everyone again in 2012!
