Type an address on your smartphone app, then start biking. As turns approach, your vibrating handlebars will guide you with turn-by-turn navigation — that’s the premise of smrtGRiPS from Boréal Bikes.

The grips integrate “eyes-free” navigation, haptic feedback notifications (vibrations), and a bike tracker without needing a display.

The company launched a fund raising campaign today on Indiegogo with the goal of raising $50,000 to manufacture the product.

Weighing about 3 ounces each, smrtGRiPS fit into a bike’s handlebars. The rechargeable battery provides more than three months of use on a single charge

The grips enable a “bike-finder” function — a rider can locate their bike by using the distance indicator or tapping the “Ring your ride” button (it causes their bike to immediately signal its location).

The smrtGRiPS sell for $69 — 40 percent off the eventual retail price of $119. Take a look and grab the discount if you need help finding your way, “eyes-free.”
