Quiksilver Heat Vest
August 29, 2010, 11:02 pm
Despite thick wetsuits and a litany of tricks to stay warm, surfers who paddle in cold waters are often, well, cold. For those shivering souls, Quiksilver has a new product, the Ps + Cypher Heat Vest, that is made to add warmth via electric infra-red heat.
The battery-powered vest fits under a wetsuit and has high and low heat settings. A rechargeable battery pack provides “hours of heat,” the company touts.
Although GearJunkie.com has not yet tested the vest, one anonymous reviewer claimed it eliminated the back twinges he often experienced during cold-water surfing.
One benefit we like: The vest costs $200 but it fits under any wetsuit. No major upgrade to a thicker suit needed.
