The Sport, Rubicon, and Sahara push the Jeep legacy with more tech and the iconic Wrangler look.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) yesterday released full specs and images on the 2018 line of Jeep Wranglers. There are a ton of details for motorheads. But, from first look alone, fans will love the new whip.

The 2018 Wrangler will boast new tech features like engine stop-start for fuel savings, an up-to-8.4-inch dash touchscreen command center, and push-button start. And it’s all packed into an impressively (if expectedly) off-road-capable vehicle.

Jeep will offer seven base configurations of the Wrangler – three 2-door and four 4-door – under the Sport, Rubicon, and Sahara badges.

Jeep says customers will have “endless configuration possibilities” thanks to dozens of door, top, and windshield combinations. That includes hard-top, automatic retractable hard-top, and removable soft-top options.

Adding to the open-air aesthetic, the 2018 Wrangler will offer a fold-down windshield and removable doors. Plus, the brand teased the 2019 Wrangler will harken back to its early roots with a half-door option.

Under-the-hood options include a turbo-charged, four-cylinder (or 3.6-liter six-cylinder) engine. And in 2019, Jeep revealed the Wrangler will receive a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel “in response to overwhelming consumer demand.”

As for performance, the Jeep still reigns supreme in many categories. Approach and departure angles of 44 and 37 degrees as well as 10.9-inch ground clearance make it capable on ugly terrain.

All Wrangler models also can ford up to 30 inches of water and sport a maximum tow capacity of 3,500 pounds.

And of course, the iconic round headlights and square taillights make this a classic, if modern, beast.
