3 Favorite Camp Cocktails: Watch GearJunkie Editors’ Picks

Nothing complements a good time around the fire like drinking. Elevate your standard camp liquor with these three recipes chosen by GearJunkie editors.

Beer brings cheer, and wine is fine. But once liquor gets involved, it can get a little complicated. Whether you pour it neat in the outdoors or are on the lookout for new recipes, this video is for you.

These recipes are loose at best — isn’t that what camping is all about, anyway? Add more or less liquor to strengthen or weaken your drink to your liking.

GearJunkie’s Favorite Camp Cocktails

1. Spiked Hot Chocolate: Cold Night Special

Ingredients: Fireball (or your favorite cinnamon whiskey) or Peppermint Schnapps, hot chocolate mix, and water

Directions: Bring water to a boil, pour contents of the hot chocolate pack into your glass, and add liquor. Easy!

2. Pine-Infused Whiskey: For the Earthy Ones

Ingredients: Pine needles and whiskey

Directions: Crack, rub, and break the pine needles to release the essential oils. Add pine needles to your glass, then whiskey.

3. Camp Margarita: ‘Cause All You Have Is Time

Ingredients: Lime, sugar, tequila, triple sec — and don’t forget the ice

Directions: Squeeze several limes into the glass. Add tequila and triple sec using a 3:2 ratio. Boil water with sugar to create simple syrup. The ratio for water to sugar is 1:1. Add simple syrup to the glass, cover, and shake. Add a lime wedge for garnish.
