Truly Insane. Few other words can describe what rock climber Alex Honnold did in Mexico on the 1,500-foot cliff, El Sendero Luminoso. He free-soloed — as in no rope, no harness, nothing but hands and feet — a slip-you-die 5.12 face and lived to tell the tale.

In this video, a sneak peek at a longer feature coming from production company Camp 4 and sponsored by The North Face, you get a slow-motion look at the feat. I held my breath the entire time wondering how exactly Honnold grips on to seemingly non-existent edges to pull himself upward, not a millimeter of error allowed. —Magee Walker
