Alex Honnold opened up in Jared Leto’s docu-series Great Wide Open. In this episode, Honnold talks about his ongoing relationship with the prospect of death and how losing his father at a young age influenced his life as a free solo climber.

The pair hiked up Matthes Crest and summited Cathedral Peak in Yosemite. True to form, Honnold ditched the rope and convinced Leto to do the same.
