There’s lots we can accomplish online. But hiking? Fjallraven is testing out this concept by making its latest trekking trip fully virtual.

From September 30 to October 3, Fjallraven is hosting its Classic USA. And while the backpacking excursion is going to look very different this year, Fjallraven still invites everyone to join the trek.

Because all Classics were canceled for 2020, Fjallraven enlisted the help of its guides to make the Classic USA Route possible.

Those interested in “hiking” can join the virtual trek, which features the step-by-step route from a first-person POV. Viewers can watch different segments to see the trail, check out different backcountry camps, and listen to the recorded sounds of nature. You’ll also get info on cool details like elevation gain and water sources along the way.

Best of all, these virtual treks carry no cost.

Back in 2015, Fjallraven launched the annual trekking event, the Fjallraven Classic. The treks travel distances between 45 and 110 km (28 to 68 miles) and are available in eight different countries. The event unites both new and experienced backpackers, the route is set for you, and items like backpacking food and a water filter are provided.

Unfortunately, there is no swag being handed out this year.

How to Hike Virtual

“Fjallraven Classic TV is our solution to the current situation to get people immersed in a trekking experience streamed online, from the point of view of a trekker,” the brand wrote. The first episode of the Classic in Germany went live in May. So far, you can tune into the Germany, Sweden, China, and U.K. treks.

Watch the Classic USA trek here, which follows a Fjallraven ambassador for 3 full days along the Colorado Trail.
