A brand known for its bomber bottles is bringing thermal insulation to a hydration pack made for mountain biking. Meet the Journey Series.

Available today, the Hydro Flask Journey Series hydration pack comes in two sizes, 10L and 20L, and three colors each. The price points are $165 (10L) and $200 (20L). The only problem might be figuring out which size is right for your adventures.

But it’s hard to go wrong. Both packs contain the same core hydration technology to keep water at the right temperature and leak-free.

The Journey’s standout feature is something Hydro Flask calls the Cold Flow System. The three-part technology is the first of its kind.

Mountain bikers will quickly grasp its benefits. The Journey Series combines an insulated sweatproof reservoir with a reflective neoprene sleeve and articulated back panel to keep water cold for more than 4 hours — even on a sweaty back.

The back panel is designed in such a way as to allow for constant airflow. This prevents body heat from getting trapped or transferring that warmth to the reservoir. The same back panel that keeps liquids cool inside the pack is designed for maximum comfort. The fabric, padding, and elevated paneling keep your skin cooler and your spine restful when you’re riding for long hours in the saddle.

And as good as ice-cold water might feel dripping from your hydration pack onto your toasty neck, Hydro Flask has ensured the Journey Series is a no-leak MTB hydration system.

Hydro Flask Journey Series Hydration Pack: 10L or 20L?

This insulated hydration pack is all about the keep-it-cold factor. So deciding on the right capacity is all about your own personal pursuits and goals on a mountain bike. The difference between the 10L and 20L packs is mostly in storage size. But there’s also some variation in pockets and access features.

The Journey 10L is for everyday adventure. It weighs 3 pounds. You could bike commute with this and then use it for an after-work trail ride. Besides a cellphone pocket, most of the storage is inside the pack.

The Journey 20L (3.6 pounds) is for those longer rides or even a solid option for bikepacking. With an extra external top pocket and a bigger second interior compartment, this watertight hydration pack lets you bring along more gear, layers, tools, etc. for extended backcountry journeys.

The Hydro Flask Journey Series is available online now and at select stores around the country.
