Lighter and smaller LEDs mean more opportunities to integrate lighting into anything and everything… event boots!

The company LED Boots pairs tactical footwear with LED lighting — they have an LED built into the tongue. The company says the water-resistant lights provide a 100-foot beam. They are attached with elastic bands that stretch with the light if it gets caught on something. They are also removable incase you would need an additional hand-held light source.

They run for 72 hours straight on AAA batteries. There is a red low-beam setting for hiking without destroying your night vision.

The boots are insulated, anti-static, fire resistant, and are meant to “greatly increase safety and movement in dark situations,” the company notes.

So far the boots are only available in a tactical style marketed to police, military, and firefighters, but we can see potential use in the outdoors. We once reviewed LED lighted sandals, and they were pretty awesome.

Later this spring the company plans to release a new style of hiking and hunting boots as well as a cross-trainer sneaker. They are also planning on incorporating GPS and solar charging strips in the boots in the future to make them more versatile. We look forward to strapping on some lighted boots soon for an illuminated night hike.
