Skiers take note: There’s a new multi-resort pass coming to market for winter 2018–2019. Meet Ikon.
The Ikon Pass is Alterra Mountain Company‘s answer to Vail’s Epic Pass. And it looks pretty damn awesome.
Ikon just announced pricing today, $899 for 26 resorts, including unlimited days at 12. It looks like we’ve got a good old-fashioned price war on our hands. It’s a good time to slide on snow!
Ikon Pass Price, Options
Much like Vail Resort’s Epic Pass, the Ikon pass will give skiers access to many mountains for the entire season. The pass will replace the Rocky Mountain Super Pass, which is phased out for next winter.
Skiers can choose complete passes for up to 26 destinations. Another option has fewer unlimited resorts, some blackout days, and fewer days at some resorts at a reduced price.
Complete Ikon Pass: $899
The $899 Ikon Pass is expensive, but it’s still a heck of a deal for those who plan to ski a lot of days on several mountains.
It gives unlimited access with no blackout dates to the following: Steamboat, Winter Park Resort, Copper Mountain Resort, and Eldora Mountain Resort in Colorado; Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Mammoth Mountain, June Mountain, and Big Bear Mountain Resort in California; Stratton in Vermont; Snowshoe in West Virginia; Tremblant in Quebec; and Blue Mountain in Ontario.
It also gives seven days EACH at the following: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Big Sky Mountain Resort, Killington Resort, Sugarbush Resort, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, and Deer Valley Resort. For skiers who like to travel and don’t live near these mountains, they are some sweet destinations.
Finally, pass holders get seven days COMBINED at the following: Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk in Colorado; AltaSnowbird in Utah; Loon Mountain, Sunday River, and Sugarloaf in New England; and Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise, and Mt. Norquay in Alberta.
The pass includes other perks, like 10 buddy passes for friends and family, worth 25 percent off full ticket rates. Child passes for ages 12 and under are $199 with the purchase of a full adult pass through April 9.
Ikon Base Pass: $599
This option is streamlined to save some money and is basically a replacement for the Rocky Mountain Super Pass. It’s about the same price, with many of the same mountains (but no Crested Butte … sad face).
The Ikon Base gives unlimited access to the following: Winter Park Resort, Copper Mountain, and Eldora in Colorado; Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows (with holiday restrictions), Big Bear Mountain, and June Mountain in California; Tremblant in Quebec; Blue Mountain in Ontario; and Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia.
Base option purchasers also get five days EACH (with holiday restrictions) at the following: Steamboat, Mammoth Mountain, Deer Valley Resort, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Big Sky Resort, Stratton, Killington, Revelstoke, and Sugarbush.
Finally, Base pass holders get five days COMBINED (with holiday restrictions) at the following: Aspen Mountain; Snowmass; Aspen Highlands; Buttermilk; AltaSnowbird; Banff Sunshine; Lake Louise; Mt. Norquay in Alberta; and Sunday River, Sugarloaf, and Loon Mountain in New England.
This pass includes eight buddy passes at 25 percent off. The children’s rate for this pass is $149 until April 9.
