Honeycomb Hard Hat — Smith won’t say exactly what the “patented tubular core structure” called Koroyd is made of in its debut FOREFRONT mountain bike helmet. But the honeycomb structure is cited as both lighter than traditional EPS foam as well as more absorbing in a crash.

There’s a brim and a mount for a camera or bike light on top. Another bonus: Wind flows right through the hundreds of holes, helping to regulate heat. We strapped on the airy helmet (285 grams) and adjusted the chin strap. It fit close and felt breezy even on the trade show floor. $220.
