Merrell Chill jacket

With an old-school look but new-school features, the Merrell Chill jacket refuses to be left in the closet. The 550-fill down jacket has a herringbone-type quilted pattern and ribbed waist and cuffs to give it a retro feel. But don’t let that fool you.

The Chill’s outer layer is 100-percent rip-stop polyester with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating to keep you, and the down, dry all winter. About half (10 ounces) of the jacket’s weight is down. Plus it has a drawcord hood, zippered exterior pockets and open interior pockets.

You can also reverse it to change looks and reveal a smooth inner layer that’s just as durable and weather resistant as the exterior. The Chill is currently available for $180. www.merrell.com
