Some internships focus on professional skills, developed in an office setting, that lead to a promotion to middle management. This is not that kind of internship.

Harley-Davidson internship

Harley-Davidson will give you a motorcycle and pay you to ride it around all summer. Just let that sink in.

The Milwaukee-based engine of two-wheeled Americana just posted an internship that’s sure to garner a lot of applicants. That’s because the “Find Your Freedom” position includes on-the-job motorcycle training, a bike to ride, and a paycheck for living and riding for 12 weeks, immersed in motorcycle culture.

And to sweeten the deal, you get to keep the Harley when you’re done.

Officially, this is a marketing internship. The (unbelievably lucky) selected applicants – Harley wants eight – will take part in Harley-Davidson events, experience motorcycle culture, and chronicle their experiences via social media.

While the interns’ travel routes and schedule have not been finalized yet, the brand hosts event around the country. And the brand told us some interns will take part in Harley-Davidson 115th Anniversary Celebrations happening in Milwaukee and Prague.

According to Harley-Davidson, the ideal candidates will have a flare for making fun photos and videos on the fly. They will also have “innate sense” for creating great content for Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook. You can read the full description here.

And candidates don’t even need to know how to ride a motorcycle. The brand will provide a spot in a local Harley-Davidson Riding Academy course. Then, the interns will receive a “crash course” in marketing at Harley’s Milwaukee headquarters.

This is a full-time commitment. Harley-Davidson said it’s looking for college juniors or seniors (or equivalent), or recent graduates.

To apply, applicants must make some creative pitch as to why they’re the best fit. The company said this could be an essay, video, photo collage, or “whatever you want.” Submit pitches via an email to FreedomInternship@Harley-Davidson.com.

Applications are due by May 11, but the brand did not specify compensation for the 12-week internship. And it didn’t disclose what kind of motorcycle the intern will receive, but said “Harley-Davidson will work with each hired intern to select the best motorcycle for them.”
