Buying a pair of Simms’ newest wader doesn’t just help you on the water — it helps the water too.

Simms Fishing Products launched a new collaboration with Montana Freshwater Partners, releasing a wader aimed at raising money for the Yellowstone River following devastating floods in 2022.

Last summer witnessed a freakish confluence of environmental factors that resulted in a 500-year flood of the river, destroying bridges and roads in Yellowstone National Park and wreaking havoc on the area’s ecosystem.

Through sales of the Simms Watershed Stockingfoot Wader, patterned after Simms’ G3 Guide Stockingfoot Wader, the Montana-based company has committed $50,000 of funding to the Yellowstone River Stewardship Campaign. The fund was kicked off by Montana Freshwater Partners, a nonprofit based in Livingston, Mont.

“To the residents of Southwest Montana, the Yellowstone River is not only a vital economic resource, it’s an ecosystem that’s essential to their way of life,” Simms said in a press release.

Simms Watershed Stockingfoot Wader: Details

OK, so the waders help save the environment, but how good are they for actual fishing? Well, according to industry experts, they might just be the best waders available.

They’re essentially a rerelease of the G3 Guide Stockingfoot Wader, which won Best of Show last year at the International Fly Tackle Dealer trade show. In GearJunkie’s review of the updated model, the G4Z Wader, we called it “easily the best wader on the market today.”

Like the G3, the Watershed Stockingfoot Wader uses GORE-TEX fabric in a three-layer upper portion and a four-layer lower portion. It’s breathable, durable, and (obviously) waterproof, Simms said. Need pockets? The wader comes with an oversized, stretch-woven chest pocket (with zipper) and a microfleece-lined, zippered, pass-through handwarmer pocket.

There are front and back leg seams, integrated gravel guards, and adjustable suspenders with opposing buckles for waist-high conversion. The “anatomically correct” left and right stockingfeet also have an antimicrobial finish, the company said.

With eight sizes to choose from, Simms Watershed Stockingfoot Waders are currently available for purchase, though there’s a limited supply.

Buy them for $600 at the Simms website, or at participating retail stores, which you can also locate online.
