You can buy a fanny pack made from an upcycled park ranger uniform this Sunday. Parks Project will donate a portion of the proceeds to support parklands.

So, you want to rock a fanny pack, eh? The style just keeps coming back again and again — and for some pretty good reasons.

Sure, you can call it a “lumbar pack” if you’re feeling sensitive. But let’s cut to the chase: Whether or not you think they’re nerdy, these small bags that rest at the small of your back or over your belt buckle are downright useful.

And now you can get one made from old park ranger uniforms. How cool!

The packs are a simple design. They have a strap for your waist and a single (good-quality) YKK zipper to access the interior.

The recycled material from old ranger uniforms is a wool and polyester blend. Each pack is 13 inches long, 8 inches high, and 4 inches deep, which the brand claims can fit a “32-ounce Parks Project water bottle.” It looks perfect for holding small items like keys, a wallet, or maybe a tire repair kit for mountain biking.

Parks Project makes each pack in the USA with a recycled lining from a Parer Studio art installation. So many talking points!

If you’d like to pick one up, they hit the market on Sunday for $45. If you’re looking for a fanny pack with quite a story to tell, this just might be it.
