$11 Million, Do-All Watch

Wear this watch for a workout, hike, or around town. The Pebble watch has gone viral this week, raising $11 million with weeks to go in a Kickstarter campaign.

What is it? The smart-watch can sync up with a phone to run apps and other functions. The screen, an upgrade from the original, is color and can be read in bright sun.

The battery lasts for up to 7 days, Pebble says, letting you take it into the wilds for a long weekend and beyond.

Pebble raised more than $10 million when it launched the first iteration of the watch in 2012.

This updated version has improvements like a slimmer design, a new operating software, and a new “e-paper” screen. The nearly $20 million in capital raised overall speaks to this little gadget’s popularity. As smart devices of all kinds continue to gain popularity, we expect to see more campaigns like this go viral.
