Classic fly anglers are patient and methodical. Not one of our managers though! Having a lot of energy and still working on her patience, she tends to make quick decisions. Sometimes this helps her gain a better position to land a fish, but if she’s not careful, she often ends up in the water. Her pack and gear seem to constantly be wet. That’s not the case any more thanks to Patagonia’s new Guidewater Hip Pack.
The Guidewater Hip Pack 9L is made from a sturdy 100% recycled nylon plain weave, with a PU coating on the face and a TPU coating on the backer. The waterproof and corrosion-proof YKK zippers make the pack fully submersible, and two fully adjustable straps mean you can perfect your fit.
The internal organizer pocket helps separate small items from the main compartment, and I can move it to the external lash points for quick access. Riverside IPAs now have a perfect spot in the two side stow pockets.
Like most GearJunkies, she likes to bring all the gear she think she might need when she’s out on the river. That means several fly boxes, extra layers, sunscreen, snacks, and some celebratory brews. What she loves most about the Guidewater Hip Pack is the ample amount of storage — she’s never had to leave anything behind.
Add that it is 100% waterproof and dustproof, and she can continue being wild on the river knowing her gear will stay safe and dry.
