The Quality Deer Management Association and National Deer Alliance will unify into a single new group focused on the conservation of America’s deer populations and issues facing deer, deer hunters, and the hunting industry.

By the end of 2020, the U.S. deer population will have a newly forged group working on behalf of its interests. The name is yet to come. But the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) and the National Deer Alliance (NDA) are now in their next evolution as a singular entity.

Led by NDA’s former CEO and president, Nick Pinizzotto, the organization intends to combine the two teams over the next few months. The NDA itself was a product of QDMA’s 2014 National Whitetail Summit, and both groups have maintained similar objectives over the past 6 years.

The merger also comes at a time when COVID-19 forces businesses and nonprofits alike to think differently about how they do business.

Pinizzotto said, “While there’s no question the crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic has hit many organizations hard, we are turning the tables by using the situation, combined with the many challenges deer and hunters are facing, as an opportunity to become laser-focused on delivering a mission that serves deer, hunters, and industry effectively and efficiently.”

The new group expects to continue the NDA’s allyship work with the Mule Deer Foundation and Whitetails Unlimited. And folks with QDMA memberships will roll over into the new effort. The group plans to announce a new name and mission statement in late 2020. It expects to complete the unification prior to the 2021 effort for deer advocacy.
