Introducing ‘The Chairlift … bringing skiers together in ways nothing else can.’
Sure, there’s something to be said for hiking up mountains. But there’s also something to be said for the chairlift, a contraption of pulleys, belts, ropes, towers, and, of course, chairs. Chairlifts are pretty unique — they turn a fairly individual sport of skiing or snowboarding into a community experience.
According to the Salomon team, the chairlift may be the “single greatest invention in the history of modern skiing.” And Salomon could be right — they lift us to the tops of peaks. And they unite us on the mountain. In this short film, Salomon celebrates the chairlift: from the two-seaters to the high-speed sixes, from California to Ontario.
People have their favorite runs, their favorite lifts, heck, even their favorite chairs. “What’s your favorite lift?” the filmmaker asks skiers. The next 6 minutes of the film is a fun, nostalgic, and a little competitive recap of how many lifts are out there and how much they are appreciated.
So the next time you head to your local resort for a powder day, take a look at the chairlift, enjoy the scenery, and don’t forget to thank your liftie.
