A local Summit County film ‘hooked’ our eye. It’s all about women in skimo.

In 2019, the local showing sold out. This mountain-town-made film quickly became popular for a very simple reason: a shared love for skimo. Now, the film is finally available online.

“Sisters of Skimo” follows the journey of Summit County local Sierra Anderson and her fellow ski mountaineering racing (colloquially known as “skimo”) competitors as they vie to qualify for the World Championships in Switzerland.

The film profiles Anderson along with other seasoned athletes and Olympic hopefuls and “becomes a journey about family and camaraderie in sport.” The 20-minute movie was partially shot in Summit County and produced by Vail’s Howard Head Sports Medicine.
