How can future generations be raised to practice a sustainable way of ski touring? ORTOVOX poses this question and looks for some answers in its latest short film, “Ski Local.”
ORTOVOX athlete Adam Wirth, along with his kids Lucy and Mac, practice living the “#SkiLocal lifestyle” in their backyard of Wyoming’s Teton mountains. And despite being confined to their local area, they’re having a lot of fun.
“The Ski Local philosophy is about exploring the mountains in your backyard in an eco-friendly way: being one with nature, only leaving small tracks, planning your tour mindfully, and supporting each other!” Wirth wrote.
So what does “ski local” really mean? Ask these 12- and 15-year-old backcountry enthusiasts. “I love backcountry skiing with my family, and I love living in Wyoming,” Lucy Wirth said in the film.
Adam Wirth, with the help and support of ORTOVOX, is in the process of raising a future generation of alpinists. And these little rippers are following in their dad’s footsteps — they’re stoked to grab their skins and snacks and head out early to seek out the best snow.
