‘SlimBike’ Doubles As Wall Art

Hang your bike on the wall as art. That’s a premise of the SlimBike, a concept bicycle in funding now that converts from a retro ride to a mounted wall adornment at the flick of a switch.

It has a special part on its stem, called the FlipCrown, that lets a rider flip the handlebars 90 degrees. This lines up the bars to the frame and makes the bike low-profile enough to hang on a wall or park in a narrow hallway.

The company, founded by two designers in Belgium, is seeking $15,000 in startup funding via an Indiegogo campaign that launched today.

Keep your bike out of the way in crowded urban places

One version of the bike will come with easy-to-remove pedals. They pop off, and then when mounted on a wall (with a stand made by the company) your bike can take up as little as 4 inches of space from the wall.

Check out the SlimBike and support the vision on Indiegogo if you’re convinced (like us) that a nice bike truly can be a piece of art.
