About Acebeam

Acebeam was founded in 2014 and now makes a variety of lighting products, including bike lights, headlamps, and high-performance flashlights.

As a design strategy, Acebeam uses a constant-current circuit design in its flashlights. This means that your LED should maintain its average brightness until the battery dies out instead of slowly dimming over time.

Acebeam Rider RX Overview

  • Waterproof
  • USB-C rechargeable or AA battery
  • Five power modes
  • Two-way clip
  • Portable

The Acebeam Rider RX is the latest iteration of the brand’s EDC flashlight.

It comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery with a built-in USB-C charging port, which powers its greatest output. However, a backup AA battery still gives you access to all five of its power modes, from an ultra-low setting to full-blast SOS.

A two-way clip lets you attach it to a large belt or a smaller backpack strap. It also has a tail stand for use as a candle. A quick-use function allows the light to turn on with a half-press of the switch and off when released.

If you want to get into the nitty-gritty of the light itself, here’s what Acebeam reports: the Nichia 219F LED has a color rendering index of 90 and a neutral color temperature of 5,000K. That hits the range of crisp, “day white” light often considered best for industrial use.

Stylistically, the double-wall flashlights come in a variety of metal colors. Acebeam even built the Rider RX with a mechanical slide for the clip so you can use it as a fidget device. The brand says it  “integrates decompression and portability into one product, making it a highly playable EDC.” You know, like the battery cover on a TV remote.
