Leatherman’s newest multitool adds G10 scales and S30V blade steel for more durability and better ergonomics. Meet the Charge+ G10.

The Leatherman tool we all know and love just got better. The addition of the G10 high-pressure fiberglass laminate coated with epoxy resin gives this already-classic knife a great feel and even longer lifetime. And in the G10 Charge+, Leatherman gives us a superior S30V blade.

Top Multitool Improvements: G10 Charge+

The Charge has been a pinnacle of the Leatherman family for a decade. Leatherman packs the 4-inch frame of the Charge+ with 19 tools (including replaceable hardwire cutters) already. And the Charge+ is already a great multitool, earning top ratings from pro gear reviewers and customers alike.

But the upgrade to S30V blade steel is a big statement in the multitool world. Compared to commonly used 420HC or 154CM steel, S30V has better edge retention while maintaining corrosion resistance.

The only downside is it’s a little hard to sharpen because it’s so hard! The only other Leatherman currently rocking S30V is the Charge+ TTi.

Onto the handle, you’ll find G10 scales. Used on many quality knives, G10 feels great in the hand. Its texture adds to a good grip, and it’s proven itself durable in myriad applications from handles to precision-machined parts and handgun grips.

Beyond those upgrades, the Leatherman Charge+ G10 has the familiar outside-accessible tools. The tools all lock into place, and the straight and serrated blades on this model are one-handed operable. Leatherman claims the G10 sculpted grip scales also make the multitool corrosion-resistant.

This new multitool will be available exclusively at REI and Cabela’s for its first year on the market. And the G10 handles can be made in your choice of red or orange. The Leatherman Charge+ G10 starts at $170.
