The brand calls it a “point-of-view active lifestyle camera.” Unveiled at the CES trade show this week, the HX-A100 from Panasonic adds yet another player in the already busy action-camera field.

But the toy-like A100 is different than the known GoPro, Contour, or V.I.O. “helmet camera” stock. It comes with an “earhook” frame to make it wearable. You can strap it to a helmet, too, or paddle a river — the Panasonic is waterproof.

Built-in wi-fi lets a shooter “broadcast live video with simultaneous full-HD recording,” the company notes.

You can control recording from the unit or it can be turned off and on with a smartphone or tablet.

The company cites 140 minutes of battery life. It records at HD resolutions up to 1920 × 1080 at 60 fps.

Get your earhooks ready. The A100 comes out in March for $299.
