Sled Legs 01

Sled Legs are touted as a “wearable snow sled.” You simply strap these on your legs, run, and jump into a sliding position.

The plastic sleds have molded foam on the inside to pad your legs from the impact of bouncing down a slippery hill. Knee and shin straps keep them attached for the ascent and descent. No more pulling that sled up the hill.

Injury Potential?

Yes, this thing looks fun, and kids might be able to handle the force exerted by bouncing along on deeply bent knees.

But we’re adults, and won’t be testing it (or our creaky old knees). It just seems like there’s a fair bit of injury potential here. And while that’s maybe part of the fun of a good sledding expedition, knee surgery sucks. Anyone with a less-than-robust meniscus will probably want to pass.

Compared with a cheap plastic sled, these things are pricey, retailing for $140. You can pre-order now on Indiegogo for $85, but that’s still a lot more than the $10 or so you will spend for a basic sled at your local big box.

But for those who want a whole new way to slide down the mountain, Sled Legs provides the solution. We just hope your knees are up to the job.
