There’s nothing but upbeat music, fantastic weather, fresh powder, excellent lines, massive slopes, and epic snowboarding by a list of talented riders in this straightforward, unadulterated movie.
Touted to be the first truly Alaskan ski film since Aurora Projekt’s Rendered in 2002, Boarderline Alaska collaborated with Aurora Projekt to change that by making its own ski film in Southeast Alaska — DIY style.
What began as unused footage from friends of riders shredding soon became the inspiration behind The Outliers.
“We thought it might be a 10-minute edit at first,” said Mark Rainery, the editor and producer. “I started asking all the riders here to submit their footage. Some of us film for sponsors, but a lot of us are just out there filming because we want to — because it’s fun. We don’t have much for events or a snowboard scene in Southeast [Alaska], we just have the shops, and we wanted something for local riders to gather around. That became The Outliers.”
In this eclectic ski film set on the gorgeous slopes of Southeast Alaska, riders including Rainery, Ryland Bell, Mark Landvik, Lucas Merli, Morgan Hebert, Holly Enderle, David McCasland, Jessie Herman-Haywood, and others demonstrate their shredding skills in a variety of ways.
