Last weekend, about 300 mountain bikers (and even more spectators) gathered to race bikes, drink beer, and generally wreak havoc in the quiet town of Winona, Minn. The event was Single Speed USA, an annual mountain bike competition.
The highlight of the weekend was a 35-mile race that featured 4,000 feet of vertical climbing on singletrack. Racers were fighting for the title of Single Speed USA champion. As part of a tradition at the event, many of the racers decided to ditch the spandex and put on, well, interesting garb. Here’s our top 10 favorite costumes from the race. —Amy Oberbroeckling
