Epic custom build on super rare vehicle, clean CarFax, low mileage, big power, insane off-road capability, and enough luxury for a king. But, there are a few hurdles to owning this 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 Weistec, which is currently being auctioned off on Bring-a-Trailer.

There Are a Few Hurdles

First, the price. Only a few days into the auction, and this beast of a machine is already at $650,000. If previous sales are any indication, it could easily break a million-dollar sale price.

Second, and the most worrying for potential U.S. buyers, is that it is a “show or display” vehicle in this country. That means it can be driven no more than 2,500 miles per year and must be available to the NHTSA for inspection at any time, until it surpasses 25 years and can be imported without restriction. It also means that a buyer must apply for a new “show or display” NHTSA approval in order to legally keep it in this country.

Oh, and while the vehicle is currently in California (on a Texas title), it can not be purchased by a private party in California. It would not pass California emissions testing but has been federalized.

Only about 100 of these Mercedes G-Wagon 6×6 were built between 2013 and 2015, making this a rare beast. The odometer shows only 5,400 miles, which means it’s seen little time on the road since arriving in the U.S. a decade ago.

While this machine will likely never see more than a gravel parking lot in terms of off-road travel, it no doubt has the chops to tackle extreme terrain. It has proper six-wheel drive, a dual-range transfer case, five electronic differential locks, and 18 inches of ground clearance.

That big clearance comes compliments of portal axles and 37-inch mud-terrain tires. The 18-inch Hutchinson beadlock wheels offer real capability and extremely burly looks, while six cross-drilled Brembo disc brakes ensure all that rolling mass comes to a stop in a hurry.

If you were ever to take this 6×6 4-door pickup off road, you’d likely regret it, though. Between the Designo Magno Night Black paint, shiny tubular rear bumper, carbon fiber fender flares, dual side-exit exhaust outlets on each side, and chrome roll bar, you’re almost assured some new scratches that would be expensive to fix. A “ding” on the roof is noted in the listing.

Inside this German monster is a Designo Black and Porcelain quilted leather interior, with some red accent stitching and an Alcantara headliner. Loads of carbon trim and all the latest 2014 tech and luxury are included.

This machine even features a central tire inflation system with in-cab controls. Combine that with Öhlins gas bypass shocks, and you can create quite the buttery smooth luxury ride over just about any terrain.

No luxury truck would be complete without a wood-paneled cargo bed. This one also houses a full-size spare and is topped with a chrome roll bar.

Weistec Conversion

On top of this being a one of 100ish G-Wagon 6×6, it is also a Weistec Engineering modified vehicle. In this case, that equates to the Santa Ana, Calif., company upgrading ECU, turbochargers, downpipes, and exhaust.

All of that was added to the already impressive twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 that comes under the hood of these monsters. The setup with the Weistec upgrades is said to put out about 850 horsepower and 900 pound-feet of torque.

The big power it makes is sent to all six wheels via an AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission.

That transmission is hopefully quite strong, as not only does it need to handle the 850 horsepower from the motor but also the 9,000+ pounds of this vehicle. Oh, and expect less than 9 mpg, and it requires premium fuel.

BaT Auction

This 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 Weistec could be yours if you can come up with enough cash to beat out the other Bring-a-Trailer bidders, take care of the NTHSA “show or display” paperwork, are OK with not driving it all that much, and don’t live in California.

Bid now on this impressive German beast, as you’re unlikely to come across another one quite like this anytime soon.
