Why does the AARP care? Key points in the AARP report address mobility for aging adults. The ideas seem to be well suited to the general population as well, including encouraging government planning agencies to change policies so that “multimodal transportation options” are considered in project development from the beginning.

With 40,000,000 members and a lot of clout, it’s great to see this kind of forward thinking. We have noticed “complete street”-like initiatives in many urban areas around the U.S. and hope to see the “multimodal transportation options” trend continue to catch on.
