The headline on a Salt Lake City TV news station read, “Utah ice storm slows commute, planes.” A lead photo shows a common scene, a fender-bender at an icy intersection. Then, in the background rolling by is a man avoiding the chaos of cars during the snowstorm and pedaling through the city on a unicycle with an umbrella and heading to work.
Said the Utah State Patrol, “We just ask commuters to be cautious and give themselves plenty of time to arrive to their destination safely.” The unicyclist, later identified as a Salt Lake City lawyer, rides his one-wheeler to work downtown every day.
He even has a studded snow tire mounted on the unicycle for traction on the ice. “He was a heck of a lot more prepared than everybody else out there,” a newscaster noted.
Sir, we tip our hat to you.
