[leadin]Meet the SPARtool, a small, burly shovel with a sharpened edge, pry bar, and a saw, all in one.[/leadin]
Invented by Stewart Yeoh as a lightweight, versatile implement designed to “perform any outdoor or survival task,” the shovel-multitool looks perfect for stowing in a truck for odd and unexpected jobs.
The SPARtool has a 6″x 8″ shovel head with integrated chopping edge, saw blade, and a bottle opener. The 1075 carbon steel and Zytel handle are topped with a flat pry bar, hammer, and 4″ pick that functions as a handle for digging and sawing.
Perhaps most interesting, the 22″ tool weighs in at just 2 lbs, 15 oz. Not bad for a what appears to be a pretty burly implement.
This multi-tool obviously won’t take the place of a purpose-built axe or shovel. But for small and unexpected tasks, it looks like an invention that could help get you and your vehicle out of a jam.
