Bike theft is rampant in big cities, and it sucks. A group in Minneapolis (Twin Cities Stolen Bikes page on Facebook) has taken on the lowlife scum who nab people’s hard-earned transportation and, in at least a few instances, they have gotten a stolen bike back to the owner.

Today, a real-time bike recovery went down as participants watched online. “Posting for Zoe Prinds-Flash who had her bike stolen from her backyard,” begins an alert by a group member. It goes on to describe a Jamis commuter bike outfitted for winter riding.

Long story short, the group went on the hunt for the bike and spotted it; a chase ensued, and an hour later the bike was recovered and back on its way to the owner, who said: YOU GUYSSSSSS — thank you so much, I am almost in tears reading this thread. I can’t even believe it.”
