Black Diamond Powder Ski Skins
October 21, 2009, 9:24 am / Categories: Winter Gear
Designed for pontoons that can better take you to deep powder stashes, Black Diamond’s new skins are lightweight and wide enough for powder skis. The company’s Ascension Nylon Split STS skins fit skis between 110 and 160mm underfoot. Those are some fat planks.
The skins incorporate a waterproof fabric infused with a rip-stop Dyneema fabric. That strip of fabric runs down the middle of the skins to help cut weight, reduce drag and make them smaller to pack. They weigh 1 pound, 9 ounces per pair.
And as with Black Diamond’s other STS skins, you can adjust the Ascension Nylon Splits up to 10cm via the tail adjuster.
The skins are currently available for $190. www.blackdiamondequipment.com
