Video: Team Visits Merino Wool Sheep Farm in New Zealand

At a remote sheep farm in New Zealand last month, Jason and Chelsey Magness, members of Team GearJunkie/YogaSlackers, got an inside peek at where our favorite outdoor fabric, merino wool, comes from. The farm sources its wool to Ibex Outdoor Clothing, makers of much of the clothing you’ll see on the GearJunkie/YogaSlackers squad as they train and race around the planet.

I love New Zealand also, but Ibex is making a determined effort on reducing carbon footprint by seeking out fine-wooled American sheep – we sold our wool to them this year! Maybe it will justify my purchases, as I have many of the great t-shirts in the superwash.

Very nice video! Makes me miss my nice Ibex jacket I lost somewhere — probably on the back of chair in a restaurant somewhere — sigh…

I’m also feeling bad for goats now.

I’ve been in marketing for a long time, and am as cynical as anyone can be…but this video is charming, useful, and subtle. five stars — I really dug it
